In this engaging, faith-based workshop, we will ponder; What’s in your purse? Is your purse (aka life) filled with too many challenges? We’ll share some helpful hints to help moms clean out their purses of unnecessary burdens that weigh them down with guilt. Did someone say games? Yes, we’ll have a game, too!

Setting Goals (And Achieving Them!)

Do you have goals for yourself or your family that you just can’t seem to get going on? Or maybe you’re feeling disconnected and need to rediscover who you are and what you want in your life. In this workshop you will uncover what’s really important to you, set achievable goals, and develop your action plan to create the life you want.  You will be empowered to nurture your own dreams while helping your children achieve their (this is a 3-part workshop that spans all three breakout session time-blocks).

Food has the ability to create balanced hormones, promote energy levels, encourage a healthy pregnancy and provide healthy lactation. Up your self-care routine by learning what and how to eat to promote health.

Bethany Schaefer

Bethany has been married for almost 18 years, has two children, ages 13 & 6, and can appreciate the balance between altruism and self-care. She was blessed to be able to work in positions that allowed her to be home often and care for her children before they began school. She now works as a Licensed Professional Counselor Intern and provides counseling services to individuals, couples and families who are navigating areas of life including relational dynamics, parenthood, infertility, and pregnancy & infant loss. Bethany also understands the unique pressures and culture associated with first responders, and welcomes working with them in individual, marital, or family context.

Courtney Lipscomb

As a married mother of three grown children, Courtney Lipscomb is a Licensed Professional Counselor who is passionate about helping individuals, couples, and families navigate through the inevitable ups and downs of living in relationship with one another. She works with people struggling with depression, anxiety, identity formation, life transitions, and questions of worth. Informed by faith and armed with clinical insight, she journeys with people as they strive to discover a new perspective defined by purpose and hope. In her spare time, Courtney enjoys listening to audiobooks while walking her two miniature Aussies. As an amateur chef, she can be found in her kitchen with great frequency, and she derives great pleasure from sharing a meal with loved ones and friends.

Dyann Avila LCSW

Dyann Avila LCSW is a licensed clinical social worker, and mental health lead at Any Baby Can. Dyann provides counseling to clients at Any Baby Can and has a specialty in maternal mental health and wellness. Any Baby Can has been serving the Austin and surrounding community for forty years. Dyann has been serving at Any Baby Can for ten years, and in the Austin community for over twenty-five years in community mental health and parenting support. Dyann holds degrees from Trinity University, Union Seminary and UT Austin. She is mother to two teen daughters. Dyann describes her deepest joy and challenges to be her adventure in motherhood. She is the Education and Outreach Coordinator at the Georgetown Project’s Bridges to Growth, for which she teaches parenting and child development across Williamson County. She has a degree from the University of Texas and has had continuing education in the fields of infant and child development, early childhood education, and family relationships. She enjoys working with adult caregivers and children and is passionate about encouraging positive parent-child relationships.

Melissa Bentley is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas and is an active community advocate for moms and their families. She is a local and statewide Coordinator for Postpartum Support International, helping connect moms and their families to appropriate local resources to get the help they need. She serves on the Board of Directors for Pregnancy and Postpartum Health Alliance of Texas as Programs Director, where she developed and manages a Voucher Program for low-income new mothers. Finally, Melissa runs a weekly support group, Mamas for Mamas, for pregnant and postpartum moms in South Austin.

Participants will be knowledgeable about Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders, but the goal is not for participants to feel competent enough to provide treatment for PMADs.

Will help participants learn how to: identify Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders, recognize risk factors for development of PMADs, understand appropriate treatment options, and be able to identify potential resources for treatment or who to ask.

Stacy provides training and educational programs to parents, teachers, administrators, and the community in a variety of settings including conferences, public school, and workshops. Topics include new parenting, preschool prep, reading readiness, mental health /mental illness information and background, co-parenting, toddler and child milestones and development, middle school behavior, circle time activities, preschool curriculum, early literacy, education and career exploration, behavior concerns, special education programs, and more. She is currently a parent educator with The Georgetown Project, a middle school Special Education teacher, the transitions and empowerment program manager for San Gabriel Springs, a petting zoo provider, a parent, and a wife.

I was born in the age of the dinosaurs according to my kids. Past Director of Education Ministries at Immanuel Lutheran Church and left to start Home Cooked Ministries to bring real life, interactional Bible studies to women and a VBS alternative summer program to youth. Have called Georgetown home for 5+ years, but have lived in Texas for 21.
